‘Zauberschwein by candlelight’ is a free download 6-track EP by Dutch group Fremdkunst. This EP is a part of ‘Zauberschwein im krankenhaus’, a series of EP’s on which Fremdkunst is exploring the outer-limits of the nihilistic Fremdkunst-universe.

‘Zauberschwein by candlelight’ is produced with the help of a variety of instruments. Technics sl1200, Akai s2800, Fender Rhodes, Cubase, Ableton, Serato, Korg MS-50, Roland 106, Korg Poly-800, guitar, trumpet, saxophone, effect-pedals and an old tape-recorder: DJ Mace and colleague’s make sure ‘Zauberschwein by candlelight’ sounds like an disorganised epic sound-adventure. DJ Mace is inspired by the works of literary heroes like Friedrich Nietzsche, Jay McInerney and Nicolas Chamfort, and tries to catch the vibe of their writings in music. Above all is ‘Zauberschwein by candlelight’ an EP that’s based upon hiphop-fundings: the pumping (break)beats are always close to the surface of the songs.

The artists
Initiator of Fremdkunst, DJ Mace, takes on ‘Zauberschwein’ care of most of the productions. DJ’s Optimus (This side of paradise/It’s a beauteous evening) and Vindictiv (1888 09 30), guitarist Shycop (This side of paradise) and saxophone player Mete Erker (It’s a beauteous evening) play an important role within these productions. Special guest producer/DJ Coco Bryce made a remix of a remix of a remix of the track Still Böse.
