Mighty Atlas is a Dutch group bringing you an unusual combination of future beats, dub, jazz, pandemic grooves and 80’s electrofunk. The key-administers are Neels Smeekens, Wiboud Burkens and Rogier van Hout, who find inspiration in collaborations with other musicians. The three use vintage synths, electric piano’s, live drums, turntables etc. to manufacture their beatbased, musical constructions.
Where day and night meet
Mighty Atlas is set to release the first EP ‘Where day and night meet’ and the artists are also finishing their debut album featuring multi-instrumentalist & vocalist Baba Sissoko, bassplayer Bruno Ferro Xavier da Silva, saxophonist Itai Weissman and other musicians.
In June 2015, Mighty Atlas published its first track through the Supertunes-series by Dutch label Fremdtunes. The song ‘Warchant’ featured trumpeter Michael Varekamp, guitarist Tristan Driesenaar and drummer Vincent den Hengst.
