Mighty Atlas brings you an unusual combination of future beats, dub, jazz, pandemic grooves and 80’s electrofunk on its debut EP ‘Where day and night meet’.
The key-administers are musicians/producers Neels Smeekens, Wiboud Burkens and Rogier van Hout, who collaborated on this EP with a whole army of artists. With Malian multi-instrumentalist Baba Sissoko, the saxophonists Edward Capel & Itai Weismann (EWI), drummer Vincent den Hengst, guitarist Tristan Driesenaar, trumpeter Michael Varekamp and Janneke Franke on the violophone on board, ‘Where day and night meet’ bursts of musical influences. The creators were inspired by the The Art Ensemble of Chicago, Tony Allen, Afrika Bambaataa, Yusef Lateef, McCoy Tyner and ‘the low end theories’. It’s a piece of art, endlessly filled with creative details like a Pieter Brueghel painting.
The amazing artwork is done by Henk Loorbach. Budy Mokoginta mastered the tracks…
All in all, ‘Where day and night meet’ is one hell of a trip through the world of Mighty Atlas, so strap up and enjoy the ride!
Supported by Dubmission, Wicked Jazz Sounds, Mister Critical, Egotripland, Scratched Vinyl, BBC 6, Space Exposure and others…
