“With a sincere look on his face, your old man took down his pants and sat down on the toilet next to you. You were taking a bath; he opened up a bag of garden soil. You were not sure whether you should laugh or start kicking his ash. Now that’s in the past, alongside a zillion other memories. You yearn for it? Let it cling to your mind like lichen to a rock? No. There’s nothing to hold on to. So you open up to your senses. A strange multiplicity of sensations seize you. They trigger your imagination. Inflicting sparks of creativity. You pick up your toys again…”

With ‘Jaaneman’ DJ Optimus produced an ode to the consolation of music. A drumheavy type of soundscape, dominated by hip-hop grooves, ambient, classical music, jazz and hibernal, pensive spheres. Supported by a small team of top-notch guest-musicians, Marien Okkerse (cello), Wiboud Burkens (keys), Tristan Driesenaar (guitar) and Michael Varekamp (trumpet), Optimus created an astonishing and very personal piece of work.

Mister Adam did the artwork (using a drawing by Jan Smeekens), Ivo Statinski mastered the EP. The track-titles are based upon a poem written by Andre Sollie.
