Fremdtunes

Kool DJ Mace, one of the original minds behind Fremdtunes and a driving force behind Fremdkunst, launched a fresh online endeavor called ‘A Simple Clear Note.’ This project is an exploration of audio, visuals, and text.

Mace devised a set of rules to govern this project:
> Sharing the project on Instagram (and now also on YouTube for everyone)
> Crafting 12 tracks, each commencing with the subsequent piano note after the previous track (starting with A, then B-flat, B and so on)
> Limiting each track to a concise duration of one minute
> Incorporating an inspirational text into each release
> Ensuring that every release features sound, images, and text
> Releasing all tracks within the year 2023

The phrase ‘A Simple Clear Note’ comes from poet David Whyte’s ‘Consolations’. He wrote: “Like picking up a new and unfamiliar musical instrument, the first necessary step involves taking the time to get a simple clear note, usually the simple clear note of forgiveness that comes in allowing yourself the right, at this stage, not to know anything at all.”
