We don’t like to talk about music in terms of ‘good’ and ‘bad’. We don’t think one song is better than the other. We don’t think most votes carry the day. Neither do we think the most is the least. Or vice versa. Music isn’t competition. But we do like to jump on every year’s bandwagon of making lists. Because it’s fun. And gives us a splendid reason to give away free music.
As you may or may not know: every once in a while we put out Fremdblend: a mix of snippets of previously released tunes and tracks that haven’t seen daylight yet. Today we proudly present Fremdblend – volume four! With tracks and appearances by artists like Ben Butler & Mousepad, Big Mister Doom, Coco Bryce, DJ Optimus, Emufucka, Fremdkunst, iET, Julian Edwardes, Kelpe, Kid Sundance, Pierce Warnecke, Planes, Quarta330, Saccage, Soosh and many others. Expect to hear downtempo hiphop, skweee, triphop, jazz, boogie and all types of musica electronique…Thus; friends, Romans, countrymen, lend us your ears for over 40 minutes of fremdness.
After our contest (results will follow today!) we’d like to share some ‘bonusmaterial‘ with you. We collected 6 tracks that appeared as bonus with digital releases. Only today you downloadthemall for free! Music by Coco Bryce, Esolar, Fremdkunst, Kelpe, OptiMace & Soosh. So, enjoy and join the party…
More music for you to stream: Lee Spacey (The Netherlands) took it upon himself to make a mix/selection of promising young Dutch beatmakers and other artists (including Soosh!) for the FinestEgo platform. Topnotch material for all beatheads!
Promoter/musician/producer Hal McGee just uploaded ‘Tape Heads Cassette Compilation Volume One – by various international home-taper audio artists’ (released on cassette in 1998): a collection of strange, nice, terrifying, weird, alienated, what-not, lo-fi tunes. We were invited to contribute with a song for a new, upcoming compilation, but for now download and enjoy yourself with the 1998 tape on bandcamp…
Just to let you know what type of tunes can be heard at the office today, we share the Fremdtunes HQ trackoftheday. And we salute you with this: we will celebrate our 2 year anniversary on April 26 (and a party will probably follow a few weeks later). The next two weeks we will update you on this matter (with prizes, free DL’s etc.), so staytuned!
On a regular bases we’re inviting talented, befriended DJ’s and/or radio-hosts to do a guestmix for our ‘Weather Fremdcast’. So far we had mixes by Pathless, Emufucka and Frybread. Our fourth edition is a guestmix by Nifkin of Pom Peri Posse (Sweden): visit the Posse’s outrageously nice blog and make sure you listen to this guestmix from beginning to end: besides killer-tracks by Papoose, Christoph El’ Truento, Young Montana? and others, there’s fresh, new, truly authentic material by the Pom Peri Posse people themselves in it…
The brand new EP SoFar by Glasgow’s Soosh is out now on vinyl and digital!
On SoFarSoosh expands his wonderful style of soulful, warm melodies and drops of clapping-sounds, soft percussion and vocal shreds. It contains remixes by Greenwood Sharps, Jameszoo, Kelpe and Sekuoia (digital only), so you have enough reasons to go and get it!
Amsterdam-based animator/filmer/director Superelectric made this teaser for Soosh‘s upcoming SoFar EP, out on March 19! The song is called ‘Us‘. Superelectric, aka Henk Loorbach, used shots he made last year during a trip through Arizona (US)…
First up on March 19 2012 is the long-awaited follow up to Soosh‘s self-titled debut, the wonderful 7-track EP ‘SoFar’ with remixes by Greenwood Sharps, Jameszoo, Kelpe and Sekuoia (digital only). Have a listen right here and pre-order the vinyl at RushHour!
And, on March 22nd we release Emufucka‘s single/EP ‘Planar Rift‘ with remixes by DZA and St. Andrew. Take it in!
Glasgow-based producer Soosh will release his EP ‘SoFar’ on March 19 2012! So, why we still have to wait a few more weeks before it’s in store, you can stream the snippetmix on his soundcloudpage. Also, the vinyl (completely red cover, discosleeve) can be pre-ordered at RushHour. The record will be available in many other recordstores within a few weeks and so will the digital version of this wonderful EP. Stay tuned for more!
And Soosh has a little treat for you. The remix by Jameszoo (who did a track for Fremdtunes – the series 2 and the SEE-A-SOUND LP) is downloadable for free, completely free that is: on XLR8R. Grabit!
On ‘SoFar’, Soosh expands his style of soulful, warm melodies and drops of clapping-sounds, soft percussion and vocal shreds. Soosh is in good company on his EP: London‘s Greenwood Sharps and Dutch youngster Jameszoo (new EP on Kindred Spirits coming up!) both remix ‘Us’ in their own highly infectious manner. Beat-miner Kelpe (new release on Svetlana Industries soon!) re-arranges and delightfully smoothes out ‘Speechless‘. Sekuoia adds strong flavor to the digital release with his bonusremix of ‘Everything You Say’.
The brand new EP ‘SoFar‘ by Soosh will be released on March 19 2012. So, while we have to wait a little longer before the EP is out, Kelpe (who released the Chocolate Money EP on Fremdtunes, collaborated with Coco Bryce on Boesoek and did a track for SEE-A-SOUND) gives us a treat by uploading his remix he did for Soosh’s track ‘Speechless’ to Soundcloud. Have a good stream!
And for those who missed Kelpe’s remix for Pierce Warnecke: here it is once more:
