Last September, Emufucka (RBMA 2012) released his second EP, Retrace. Make sure you pick that one up too. In the meantime is Coco Bryce is working on his second LP (Club Tropicana) which will be out on March 25 2012. His debut LP, Boesoek, was released in 2011 on Fremdtunes.
Next month, Coco Bryce and Emufucka will release Cocofucka on Fremdtunes. Superelectric shot some images of Mister Adam working on the cover of the 7″ and turned it into a little teaser…
In April we celebrated our second anniversary. And next Sunday (July 15) we will celebrate it ‘in the flesh’ at Bird, Rotterdam – during Street Science Festival.
We organized a record fair, where a bunch of great DJ’s (like Coco Bryce, Pathless, Frankadelic and OptiMace) will be spinning records. Plus: Mister Adam, Saskia Haex, Lucky Dubz and Hans Foks will create live artwork on blank record-covers.
We are also invited together with filmmaker/producer/label-owner/DJ Mike Redman (Redrum) to join the talk-show ‘Mybio’ the same day (starts at 17.30). Special guest DJ is our Swedish friend DJ Devastate.
Last week we announced the winner (7-year old August Gesthuizen) of the Kid’s Colors coloring contest (original illustration by Dees & Mister Adam). And we’ve uploaded all the smashing results for you to take a good look at!
Last day of our coloring contest! You can still join!
Producer/DJ Kid Sundance from Eindhoven has been a household name in the Dutch Hip-hop/music-scene. August 2012 he will release his solo debut Kid’s Colors on Fremdtunes. The record will be released on 12-inch. Of course it needs an eye-popping sleeve. Graphic designer MisterAdam & illustrator Dees made a black and white version. And: we want you to finalize and COLOR THE COVER: read all about the how, what, when’sRIGHT HERE!
On January 27nd we celebrated the opening of our exposition of the project SEE-A-SOUND we did with collaborative art project Mashville at bkkc, Tilburg. After two-and-a-half month the expo is coming to end this Friday. April 20 (between 13.00 en 17.00) will be the last possibility to visit the expo at bkkc, Tilburg (NL)!
On January 27nd 2012 we openend the exposition ‘SEE-A-SOUND’ at bkkc, Tilburg. SEE-A-SOUND is an interdisciplinary project in which ten acclaimed autonomous designers and an equal number of talented producers/DJ’s teamed up to produce an exhibition and accompanying vinyl record. The ten serigraphs and musical compositions are on display in the exhibition hall at the bkkc, until April 20, 2012.
DJ’s Mace and Optimus will perform one last time for this project at Paradox (Tilburg, NL) on March 30 2012. They team up with keyplayer WiboudBurkens and saxophone player JorisPosthumus to do an adventurous impro-show. Designers Boris ‘Delta’ Tellegen and Loulou&Tummie will be showing audio-visual work and MisterAdam will premiere his Flip-over-art-act.
CocoBryce wraps up this evening with a DJ-set filled with Cumbiahop, Skweee, Future Funk and rare and undefinable tunes.
It’s cold outside, so let us turn up the heat a little.
Last week we had the privalage to open the expo ‘SEE-A-SOUND‘ at bkkc, in Tilburg (NL). The 10 subliminal works by the designers and 10 musical pieces were exposed (and will be until April 20). DJ Jameszoo turned knobs, twisted his sounds and sent a bunch of wicked tunes into the expo-space. Rodney Kasandikromo and dance-crew did a colorful performance and the phenomenal trumpeter Eric Vloeimans collaborated with our own DJ Optimus on a super-funky space-jam. And of course we were happy to welcome a whole crowd of enthusiastic visitors who enjoyed the works, beer and performances.
At the same time, we celebrated the release of the ‘SEE-A-SOUND’ 2 x LP/digital release. You can order the album and/or silckscreenprints at bkkc. Stream and download DJ Mace’s ‘Transit Line Ecstacy‘ for free. All the tracks are available at Boomkat, iTunes, Juno and other online stores. The LP can also be ordered at Juno, Rush Hour, Antenne Tilburg and Sounds.
Also, to celebrate the opening of the expo DJ Mace did a mix for Laid Back. Laid Back, subsequently and in collaboration with Thefindmag who did a great job on putting together the magazine for SEE-A-SOUND, booked an add in the magazine and asked their designer (Oli B) to do a mix of tunes he was inspired by! Ecoute!
We could go on for days, but really, there’s work to do, so we have to sign off, but not without reminding you about our first upcoming digital release by Big Mister Doom! Enjoy!
Exactly one year ago we released the free ‘Zauberschwein by candlelight’ EP by Fremdkunst. This was the first in a series called ‘Zauberschwein im krankenhaus’. After the release of part 2 ‘O sweet schwein of mine‘ in June, it’s time to bring the series to a closure with ‘Like Zauberhulk‘. ‘Like Zauberhulk’ is a 6-track EP and one more time DJ Mace and friends explore the outer-limits of the nihilistic Fremdkunst-universe.
A lot of water falling from the sky, so it’s time for another Weather Fremdcast.
We’d like to kick off with some more news on SEE-A-SOUND. The first results (soundbites and sketches) of the collaborations are to be viewed/listend to on www.seeasound.com. Mister Adam and Coco Bryce ping-ponged chopped up audio-files and graphic forms. Boris Tellegen screen-printed, during the Dutch Design
Week, his reaction to DJ Mace’s dusty, offbeat sound-design. And it seems that Attak and Grazzhoppa formed a new superhero-team. Find out about the collaborations right here: http://seeasound.com/samenwerkingen/en/ and Thefindmag introduces you to the project right here.
