PRE-ORDER JULIAN EDWARDES & E.R.P. 10-INCH

March 14, 2013

SHPFR-01_frontWe have split release with the ever-surprising, wonderful Dutch label Shipwrec!

We’re casting off for uncharted waters, setting sail to proudly introduce a new release to our ever expanding rosters. Julian Edwardes, who only just released his debut EP Paragon, presents his first outing on 10-INCH vinyl taking elements of Bass and Hip Hop and twists them into a new form. The title track judders and shakes into life with a controlled tempo adding gravity to the mix. Sombre notes drop to create a melancholic muscular beast. The flip sees E.R.P. aka Gerard Hanson aka Convextion flying in from Texas on remix duty. Hanson weaves his magic, a lush melody of IDM depth descends to elevate this remix into something sublime.

Vinyl only with amazing artwork by Graphic Surgery! The vinyl’s distributed by Clone (Rotterdam).

OUT NOW: SKETCHYBOOK BY FILTHYBROKE (FREE DL)!

February 18, 2013

FilthyBroke SketchyBook2We’re very proud to present SketchyBook! The new EP by US-based artist FilthyBroke. It’s not an ‘EP’ in the traditional sense, but rather a loose expression of a moment in time. The medium is a rapid-fire ‘sonic collage’ of off-kilter, unsettling, deranged and sometimes pretty ‘sound sketches’. The collection of tunes, analog-instrument and sample-based in composition, sounds intentionally unfinished and is therefor raw and ‘in your face’.

FilthyBroke is the new project from old producer Michael J Collins (AZ, USA). MJC had built a solid reputation releasing/licensing futuristic and quirky disco with imprints such as Wolf+Lamb, Fabric, K7 etc. He then inexplicably stopped producing music for nearly two years. This is the first glimpse into FilthyBroke, a project that has come as a complete surprise to many. Including the artist himself…

HELP A KID OUT!

June 6, 2012

Kid’s Colors is the name of the brand new LP Kid Sundance will release in August 2012: a modern day vintage album, inspired by the library- and stockmusic compilations of the 70′s and 80′s. On Kid’s Colors Sundance combines beat-fuelled Jazz, Funk-grooves, old school Hip Hop vibes, warm melodies with the use of vintage gear. Consider Kid’s Colors to be his productional palette: a decisive look into the mind and soul of Kid Sundance. Kid Sundance has been active as a producer/DJ since the 80′s and worked with artists such as Busy Bee and Dudley Perkins. After all these fun years of releasing music with others, he’s finally about to release his first solo LP on Fremdtunes.

Because it’s his debut, Sundance wants this album to be more than perfect. And perfection is going to cost. More than Fremdtunes can afford. But, with your help we will be able to accomplish his album: so, if you’re sympathetic with this project, go to this website (in Dutch) and donate! There are different options you can choose from (Sundance might even come celebrate at your habitat). Please. Be generous: and thanks in advance!

For people who live outside the Netherlands, but who want to join in: please send an e-mail to info at fremdtunes dot com and mention in the subjectline: Voordekunst Kid Sundance.

p.s. remember to join the Kid’s Colors cover-contest!

WEATHER FREMDCAST 26032012

March 26, 2012

The weather is fine and we have a new guestmix by Coco Bryce online: temparature above Fahrenheit 451!

On a regular bases we’re inviting talented, befriended DJ’s and/or radio-hosts to do a mix for our ‘Weather Fremdcast’. The fifth one is a ‘all Hip Hop‘ one by Coco Bryce, who released his Boesoek LP last year on Fremdtunes and is currently working on tracks for a new release (!). Coco did not only take the time to record a mix (with tracks by Tyler, Das Racist, New Slang etc.): he also took the time to shed some light on his love-hate relation with Hip Hop.

Crunked out & Fresh, for 2012!

“Hip hop, hip hop, hip hop, oh sweet hip hop. I think hip hop must’ve been my first true musical love yeah. De La Soul’s “Me, Myself and I” was probably what got me into it. I was totally blown away by it the very first time I heard it, with the quirky video accompanying the tune and all. I immediately went and bought it on vinyl from my allowance. And then I got some Public Enemy tapes from one of the older guys in my town, soon to be followed by all of the other Golden Era stuff (i.e. Tribe, Black Sheep, Wu Tang, Dr. Dre, Hieroglyphics, The Pharcyde and more De La Soul)…”

Of course, there’s much more good music to explore on the net (make sure you follow 20shotsequence for great music-updates for instance), but there’s one thing we really like to put some extra focus on: Project Mooncircle’s 10th Anniversary 4LP BOX compilation. This stacked box will be released on March 16. There’s so much good music on there, we’re not even going to try to sum it all up: just figure it out for youself on Project Mooncircle’s site and enjoy yourself. Talking about labels; here in The Netherlands we celebrate the arrival of a new, promising label, called Bambeats Records: check ‘m out at www.bambeats.nl.

That’s the Fremdcast for today: have a good one and stay tuned!
