On June 4th we’ll put out the complete ‘Zauberschwein im krankenhaus‘ album by Fremdkunst! Previously released as seperate EP’s, it’s now re-mastered and all loose ends are tied up.

Juno has the exclusive: you can already download it on May 28.

The other stores will follow on June 4th.

The sun is out there, reminiscent of some of F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s sharpest lines: “…radiant, growing, gathering light and storing it – then after an eternity pouring it forth in glance, the fragment of a sentence, to that part of him that cherished all beauty and all illusion.”

That being said, it’s time to radiate light on new, old, fresh, crispy, Fremdlike tunes…

Yesterday we uploaded the new guestmix by Fine Cut Bodies. Kevin of FCB is also part of Chi-Recordings and they are about to put out an ambient, filled-with-peaceful-melodies, feels-like-Christmans-on-the-moon-album called Mondoka by Eril Fjord – have a listen! A little bit more raw, but still calm, ambient, warm and also very exciting (because harmonically interesting) is the new EP ‘Wasser‘ by Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie from Switzerland, out on Soulection. Recommended! More coming from beyond the wild frontier: French duo Baron Retif & Concepcion Perez are preparing their new EP ‘Cascades’ (out on Musique Large) and serve their new video to the audience. We had a sneak-pre-listen of the full EP and we know you’re gonna dig this…

Finishing today’s Fremdcast; two releases coming out on June 4 2012: first there’s Jesse Futterman’s ‘Fuse the witches‘ EP on Jus Like Music. The soundcloud preview sounds promising, straight – no chaser, like a white rabbit on a fantastic voyage, jazzy and full of breaks – just the way we like music. Second: we, at Fremdtunes are about to release the definitive ‘Zauberschwein im krankenhaus‘ on June 4 (exclusively available at Juno on May 28). Three EP’s combined and put together in one album, re-mastered and ready to take the world by storm…

WEATHER FREMDCAST GUESTMIX 8 BY FINE CUT BODIES

On a regular bases we’re inviting talented, befriended DJ’s and/or radio-hosts to do a mix for our ‘Weather Fremdcast’. After previous mixes by Emufucka, Nifkin, R&R, Pathless, Frybread, Coco Bryce, here comes number 8: a fresh cinematic, glitchy, trippy mix by none other than Fine Cut Bodies! Even though the name implies more than one person, behind the FCB letters it’s only one face, Kevin (Chi Recordings, Hungary, Budapest). His musical preferences are really broad: from minimal techno through dance music to experimental, including dub, headz, broken beat, house, techno, electro, breakbeat – you name it. His taste is determined more by his musical attitude and not by any specific genre: he looks for music that’s experimental but not selfish, new but not unlistenable, with lots of percussive rhythm and deep grooves. ..

Producer/DJ Kid Sundance from Eindhoven has been a household name in the Dutch Hip-hop/music-scene. August 2012 he will release his solo debut Kid’s Colors on Fremdtunes. The record will be released on 12-inch. Of course it needs an eye-popping sleeve. Graphic designer Mister Adam & illustrator Dees made a black and white version. ‘A Fine Mess‘ by Dutch electronic producer/artist Julian Edwardes (Breda, NL) is out now!

‘A Fine Mess‘ is a 100% FREE, smoothed-out digi-EP with tracks that were made shortly one after another and capture a vibe and musical working process Edwardes developed in a short period. It’s safe to talk about Edwardes ‘seizing a moment’; letting go of endless takes and smooth productions. Looking for rawness and the ‘here & now’ in a semi analog & digital working environment. The arrangements travel through off-grid percussion, drunk-sounding synth-themes, crumbling sequences and melodic landscapes. Enjoy and continue reading for some personal words from the creator!

“My musical career started out with DJ-ing now and then in bars and at small Hip Hop events. Cuttin’ and scratchin’ my way through the years playing with a band and discovering all all kinds of new music (well, new to me, that was). From 60′s Rock to 70′s Fusion and Jazz, from 80′s Obscure to 90′s Post-Rock and Experimental Electronics to… well, where does it end really?

I realized about a year ago that the Hip Hop I was into during the nineties (stuff like Rawkus, Mike Zoot, Tribe) is now slowly finding its way back to my own music. Not in terms of style, but in tempo and feel.

The last couple of years I made all kinds of stuff, but most of it was on a somewhat Experimental Electronic and Post-Rock level. Big inspirations have always been artists like Tortoise, Jaga Jazzist, Motorpsycho, Amon Tobin, Radiohead, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Lars Horntveth, Steve Reich and Matmos (I can go on and on…). Like I pointed out already, the inspiration never stops. Other large fancy-ticklers are Flying Lotus, Mouse on Mars and more recently guys like Jameszoo. I’m blown away by their creativity and approach towards not only arrangement, but also the story and approach of a complete record.

But like we all know, there is so-much-music-out-there. And so much of it is really, really good. I’m not as well-informed as others I guess, I regularly loose track of what’s going on. But that’s okay really. Most of what I discover still happens in a record store, I like the idea and feeling of being surrounded by the physical medium instead of scrolling and skipping my way around through the net. I’m still somewhat of a crate-digger I guess.”

To sign off, here are some Beastie Boys (related) tracks & video’s to pay tribute to Adam Yauch/MCA (may he rest in peace): all-time favorite Beastie’s song, you gotta love ‘m for their video’s fitting the songs so perfectly, old school footage of a Beastie-performance on the Joan Rivers show in 1987 and; it sounds like this is a track by the Beastie Boys, but it really isn’t.
