Electronic Funk, Glitch-hop and a touch of Dubstep & Jazz from Berlin’s musical mastermind Pierce Warnecke on his new mini-album ‘The Machine Regrets’, out on Fremdtunes on January 19 2012. Warnecke fuses vibrant melodies and bouncy beats, authentically composed and inspired by the story of a machine gaining consciousness, only to see that it’s more of a burden than a benefit to one’s being. To finalize ‘The Machine Regrets’, Pierce Warnecke invited London’s beat-brainiac Kelpe and French ambassadors of Funk Baron Retif & Concepcion Perez to remix the title-song. Leeds-based duo Big Mister Doom wonderfully re-blended the song ‘Re-processed’.

The masters of Big Mister Doom’s EP ‘Tinderbox’ are ready. The EP (digital) will be out on February 6 2012 and the artwork is done by Cameron Steward. Another digital release in February: the vocal and exclusive instrumental version of Ti Amo (De La Fonque) by R&R Grooove Xpress will be released on February 13 ( artwork by Supernova). The song also appears on the SEE-A-SOUND LP!

We’re signing off with a new mix by DJ Mace. This one was supposed to be all about machines (since we’ll be releasing ‘The Machine Regrets‘ this week), but it turned out as a mix with just some very nice tunes by Gangstarr, Roots Manuva, Kelpe, Lord Finesse, OptiMace, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kidboy and many others. We told you before about the SEE-A-SOUND expo at bkkc, Tilburg (NL). We’ll officially kick off on January 27^th with performances by Jameszoo, b-boy Rodney Kasandikromo, DJ Optimus and trumpet player Eric Vloeimans. New-kid-on-the-block, experimental super-producer and participant in SEE-A-SOUND Jameszoo is doing well in all sorts of ways: besides the fact he is having a peculiar taste for anything, his music was found to be tasty by taste-makers Giles Peterson and Lefto who both played his ‘Kiwanushi and the Cheesechildren‘ on their radio-shows. The track will appear on the SEE-A-SOUND LP (as mentioned above). Jameszoo was noted as one of the 12 talents of 2012 at 3voor12 and he’ll be rocking Noorderslag and 5 Days Off this year.

Pierce Warnecke‘s mini-album The Machine Regrets will be out within two weeks, so to stick to the subject we made a Fremdtunes chart on Juno all about machines, robots and other automated objects. Also, take a look at the Whatpeopleplay chart by Mister Warnecke. We told you before about other upcoming releases by Big Mister Doom and Emufucka. We also received the tracks for the Soosh EP ‘SoFar’, which will be out in March 2012. Kelpe, Jameszoo and Greenwood Sharps remixed the ‘Soosh-delights’. Mokosound is working on the masters, so: be on the look out!

Last but not least, we like to highlight some of the blogs, e-zines and radioshows who shone their light on Fremdtunes and related artists, to show our appreciation: The fantastic label/blog/call-it-what-you-want Juslikemusic played some tunes of the forthcoming release by Pierce Warnecke. Bassbumpers extraordinair Lowriders wrote a very nice review about Warnecke’s debut mini-album. And, our NZ-friends from Frybread gave Fremdkunst and OptiMace more than a moment on their wonderful show.

On January 27nd Fremdtunes will release with Mashville and bkkc the 2xLP ‘SEE-A-SOUND’ with music by Coco Bryce, DJ Grazzhoppa, DJ Mace, DJ Optimus, Jameszoo, Julian Edwardes, Kelpe, Kid Sundance, Solo Moderna and Soosh. The record is currently being pressed, but we don’t want to keep these snippets away from you. So take a pre-listen! And after that: pre-order!

In the meantime we’re preparing other releases: the definitive tracks for two digital releases recently arrived at Fremdtunes HQ. The first release is the mindblowing Big Mister Doom’s 4-track single ‘Tinderbox’ with ‘b-side’ Wilderness, out on February 4th. Our Berlin-based friend Pierce Warnecke remixed the title-track; OptiMace remixed ‘Wilderness’ with the help of iET (vocals/trumpet) and Budy Mokoginta on guitar. The other tracks we received were by Japanese beat-warrior Emufucka. His 4-track single ‘Planar Rift’ will be out on March 22nd 2012. Special guests are St. Andrew (US) and DZA (RU) who both wonderfully remixed Emufucka’s tracks.

Then there’s the usual good music we need to share with you. Let’s start with the brand new free release SATURATED! VOL. 2 on Saturate Records (Hamburg) with one hell of a track by KRSUR and Coco Bryce and much more brainsmuthering tunes. Free music comes from our main man Solo Moderna too, who did a Shis Kebab Yéyé (Solo Moderna Kebabington Garage Ritmo remix). And more outstanding gratuit soulfood is to be found at producer Beatsofreen & mc Medaforacle‘s bandcamp page.
